Always a very independent thinker and a non-conformist, Deanna strives to create designs that do not follow "what everyone else does". She works in a number of mediums including wood, metal, paper, glass, botanicals, cloth, slate, ceramics, and a variety of paints. The unusual names chosen for her products are often derived from the people who have influenced or inspired the design.

DMK Designs are based on a functional use as well as a decorative appeal. Divider screen panels can be removed for cleaning or replaced with other panels to change along with your changing décor. Stools can be used as tables. Coasters can be used as wall hangings, paperweights or decorative pieces on shelves and tables. Incense holders double as penholders.

The importance of family and culture comes through in much of Deanna’s art, especially her unique coasters and wall hangings customized with Asian characters and calligraphy. A number of her pieces have been originally created as gifts for family members, occasionally upon request for help with a decorating dilemma. Over the years her customers have challenged her with requests for funky home furnishings: silk entrance stools, wire flower holders, hobo laundry holders, etc. She welcomes the creative challenge.
