Shauneen O’Shaughnessy Local self-styled artist, Shauneen O’Shaughnessy has been interested in creating "things" throughout her lifetime, from making her own games, and sewing and knitting doll clothes as a child, to drawing, making pottery, weaving, sculpting, and building decks and willow furniture as an adult. She is also an avid gardener, a painter, and a writer of poetry and fiction. During a teaching career spanning 34 years, Shauneen taught art to both elementary and junior high students, and was excited to display the wonderful work done by her art students through the years. A particular passion for working with stained glass was triggered by an encounter with the great glass artist, Paul Winter, and has continued for more than twenty-five years. Shauneen also enjoys etching glass, and has created pieces as small as simple coasters to far more complicated 4 foot by six foot etched glass panels to replace spindles in railings and staircases. She is currently working on honing her skills as a sand-blaster to create "carved" glass. Now pursuing her varied art interests full time, Shauneen states that she is both pleased and excited to display her work at Shmilar Kwong. |
